Meeting my hero

After getting out of the hospital I went to Neches to stay with my dad.  He and his wife Nancy took care of me.  I required bandage changes, used a walker, used oxygen and had to have a suction machine to keep my trach tube clear of congestion.  There were several nights I woke them up because my tube clogged and I couldn't breathe.  I was taken by ambulance multiple times to get it cleared so I could breathe. They finally put in a trach with a removable tube that I could take out and clean.

After I left my dads I went to stay with an Aunt in mineola and got in touch with Bill Waldon, the man who saved my life.  We met and I began attending church with him.  He went to Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church. The more time we spent together the closer we got.   We knew we were attracted to each other but we were very cautious because there is a 25 year age difference between us.  So I called the preacher and asked him how God would feel about the age difference.  He told me the whole church already thought we were together and that age was just a number.  So I decided to begin dating Bill.  On December 31, 2017 Bill asked me to marry him and i Gladly said yes.

The following month (January 2018) Bill  had a neck surgery.  After the surgery he was having a lot of pain in his groin.  The nurse on staff couldn't figure out why.  When the doctors came in the next morning they ran several tests and then came back and said Bill had stage 4 prostate cancer.   We were in shock and scared.   We called his kids and told them and they all came to the hospital and we talked and decided we were going to MD Anderson's  in Houston, Tx.  Bill kept telling me he would understand if I chose to leave because I didn't sign up for all of what would be the future.  However I assured him I was not going anywhere.  We were in this together.  Once we saw the doctors at MD Anderson they told us his cancer had spread to his lymph nodes in his pelvic are and it was aggressive.  We had to start Chemo as soon as possible and then do radiation treatments.  We were scared but we knew that we served a mighty God who would be watching out for us.
